Chest Infection And Oranges

Chapter 27 - Titus Andronicus - The Monitor (2010)

Titus Andronicus, a band of Glen Rock, New Jersey, since 2005 but only came to the baptism record of onset in 2008, with an album, "The airing Of Grievances", are finally ready with The Monitor to reiterate that the concepts of the previous year.
For those who have not heard the previous Hold Steady and the Pogues are felt in this new work on a massive scale, an album in the round where there is no need to invent something new, is all right.
The Monitor is more or less a "concept" album - namely, using the civil war American 1861-1865, as an extended metaphor for the problems addressed in a fairly linear narrative. He said the narrative, because it seems to understand that our hero leaves his humble birthplace of New Jersey - the oppressive and suffocating as has been discussed ad nauseum about an album is - for the greener pastures of Boston, Massachusetts (comparison music).
His thesis - "the enemy is everywhere" - is put to the ultimate test as you pontificate on issues of regional identity, emotional anesthesia, and the heavy yoke of trying to make a decent living in indecent times. All the while, he is forced to wonder if he said the American Civil War was really winning or losing.
will find the environment and think like him or his compatriots will be forced to leave his newly adopted home in disgrace ideological?
What does it mean to be an American in 2009?
Who are our so-called "friends" and in reality they are "friendly"?
is necessary, or even a good idea for an indie rock album get this kind of questions?
response, can not care less, this disc is a great fuck COSI '! .
The monitor was recorded in August of 2009, under the watchful eye of producer and engineer Kevin McMahon The usual suspects from the world of Titus Andronicus were all present, as well as an all-star cast of friends (members of the Ponytail, Wye Oak, Vivian Girls, Hold Steady, etc.) Also
Kevin McMahon did the mixing between September and October, and Greg Calbi did the mastering in early November.

So it sounds like this?
has long ambient tracks in the fullest sense of the word punk, fiery saxophone, piano, a tribute to "A Charlie Brown Christmas," marches, fourteen minutes of Billy Bragg, liturgical pieces, duets, country-sounding, tambourine played with trash cans, choirs angels with their faces "bromantic".
I already said that this record is long settantaminuticirca?
This is important because this is the sound a band of desperate for success and defiantly without fear of failure.
And just like the Whiskey, which generally indicates that distilled in Ireland and the United States, should be listened to in moderation, there is a risk of harming themselves, a positive means.
It starts with A More Perfect Union with a song of Craig Finn to The Battle Of Hampton Road, suite 14 minutes long with bagpipes and violin final drink in one gulp.
Stunned!
I walk away from the Pub (femur) with a smile on his face and an alcohol content above the level of driving.
Titus Andronicus Forever.

Ian Graetzer - low
Amy Klein - guitar, violin
David Robbins - keyboard guitar
Eric Harm - drums, vocals
Patrick Stickles - vocals, guitar, harmonica

Definitely the best of this 2010
