HNY (ABBA around the piano)
Happy New Year was one of the first songs to be completed for the new album Super Trouper. It was written in Barbados in January 1980, Agnetha and Frida were involved in the recording of the album dedicated to the English-American market Gracias por la music.
The working title of this song was: Daddy, do not get drunk on Christmas day (Dad, do not get drunk on Christmas Day) and was part of a project for a musical set in a New Year's Eve. Benny and Bjorn long they wanted to foray into the genre and the subject at the time suggested the comedian John Cleese, of Monty Python, asking him to write the script, but have been discouraged from it.
In subsequent rework the song became Happy New Year and said the budget of a couple in the New Year's Eve, with their hardships and their hopes for the future. Still the idea of \u200b\u200bthe musical piece became part of the album Super Trouper and was filmed on a video clip, although at the time was not released as a single except in Portugal, Brazil and Japan.
But the English version of the song, titled Felicidad, was a hit single in the English-speaking countries, coming in fifth place in Argentina.

But Happy New Year became a classic over the years, and certainly the track closer to a Christmas song that ABBA ever did. It is still included in several Christmas-themed compilation. In Sweden, for many years, this song was broadcast on New Year's Eve from the local TV station, much to do a special video that is called by fans "ABBA around the piano". Even a TV channel in 1980, Argentina chose Felicidad, but associated with images of I have a dream where our four children to sing with the choir, to wish happy holidays to viewers.
For Christmas 1999 and in the context of the celebrations of the new millennium finally Happy Ney Year was released as a single in many countries, achieving some success. This year the song was re-released as a single in countries such as Sweden, Denmark and Norway, still reaching the top of the league after 28 years of life.
